I have to confess that I didn’t know about this freeware software but I am impressed by its features and the fact that it comes for almost every O.S. It is a kind of Photoshop to retouch and manipulate your photos. Reading from its web-site, Gimp.org we learn that:
” GIMP is an acronym for GNU Image Manipulation Program. It is a freely distributed program for such tasks as photo retouching, image composition and image authoring.
It has many capabilities. It can be used as a simple paint program, an expert quality photo retouching program, an online batch processing system, a mass production image renderer, an image format converter, etc.
GIMP is expandable and extensible. It is designed to be augmented with plug-ins and extensions to do just about anything. The advanced scripting interface allows everything from the simplest task to the most complex image manipulation procedures to be easily scripted.”

Everywhere on the web there are rumors about a new iPhone firmware (version 1.1.3) due soon and going to change the way you think about and use your wonderful phone. As a matter of fact this new update is going to bring voice recording and disk mode of storing general data abilities. The other side of the coin is that the firmware (like every firmware update) will block the way to the growing community of those liking homebrew applications since indipendent developers will need new “jailbreak” to make their softwares work on the device.

If you like Google Maps but you don’t want to spend a lot of time with it you can a nice trick. One of this, very simple but very effective, lets you look for a particular address just by writing a web-address in the browser with the name of the street you are looking for.
This is the address you have to use:
http://maps.google.com/maps?q=[write your address here]
and this is a little example: http://maps.google.com/maps?q=fulton street, new york

The Wordpress 2.4 release is scheduled for January 24, 2008 and it is going to be another milestone for this wonderful CMS. Its new features include:
- Admin redesign
- Widget-based dashboard
- You should be able to have any number of any widget
- Undo for comment editing
- Search for both posts and pages
I am just wondering when they will implement the useful and much requested Easy Updating plugin that actually is the first thing most people would love to have since the Wordpress releases are (luckily for us) so many. By the way, I have already spoken about a very good Automatic upgrade plugin.
