wordpress.jpgAs you know ( or you should) I am using WordPress to blog. Last year I used Mambo (which was a real pain in the butt because of its bugged versions which never seemed to get out of beta versions). After my discouraging experience I started looking for a simple CMS letting me write on the Internet in an easy way and I stumbled upon Joomla!. It is a very nice CMS but well, it is too tricky for me and also full of features I really don’t need. My next choice was WordPress and since then I never moved out of it. You can learn more here. Now, one of its feature I really like is the ability to add different functions (called plugins) to the blog in a painless way. I also like its community which constantly works to release new flawless versions but well, this also scare me a little bit. As a matter of fact upgrading is not my strong point and I try to posticipate this event as much as I can. A few days ago I found a plugin called WordPress Automatic Upgrade and I fell in love with it right away. But what is it? It is a plugin to AUTOMATE the feared UPGRADE in a breeze

Let’s read what the Autors keithdsouza, ronalfy wrote on WordPress.org:

WordPress Automatic Upgrade allows a user to automatically upgrade the wordpress installation to the latest one provided by wordpress.org using the 5 steps provided in the wordpress upgrade instructions.

WordPress automatic upgrade upgrades your wordpress installation by doing the following steps.

  1. Backs up the files and makes available a link to download it.
  2. Backs up the database and makes available a link to download it.
  3. Downloads the latest files from http://wordpress.org/latest.zip and unzips it.
  4. Puts the site in maintenance mode.
  5. De-activates all active plugins and remembers it.
  6. Upgrades wordpress files.
  7. Gives you a link that will open in a new window to upgrade installation.
  8. Re-activates the plugins.

The plugin can also can be run in a automated mode where in you do not have to click on any links to go to the next step.

Now,to tell you the truth I still have to try it, but the comments I read are so positive that I am not afraid to give it a try! What doyou think about this plugin? Did you try it? Did it work?
