Microsoft has recently released an update to Vista SP1 RC v.668. This new version is numbered 6001.17128 v.774 and, like every release candidate, is not available for everybody to download since it is just for beta testers. Like the other RC I wrote about, there is a little hack to override the Microsoft limitation and make this new release available for you. Before proceeding keep in mind that you have to insert into your Vista a little registry key to let Microsoft recognize your machine as a valid one. The whole procedure can be found here. Once done you are authorized to download the package. Here is the link to the leaked copy. Here instead you can find the standalone (.exe) just in case you want to install the SP1 right away. If you have any previous Sp1 copy installed on your machine you have to uninstall it before proceeding with this new installation. Remember that the prerequisite to install any Sp1 is download KB935509 (Vista Ultimate and Enterprise editions), KB938371 and KB937287. Windows Vista Service Pack 1 will be shows as KB936330.
