There are a lot of software around in the Internet speaking about this topic. I know this pretty well. What lots of you don’t know at all, is that there is a little trick which lets you download whatever you want from YouTube without using any software! This hack has been posted on this site, anyway here you can find the step-by-step procedure:

• First of all you have to spot the video you want to download. Let’s say that you want to download this video speaking about the new Mac Air. Here is the link: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=GBCfW9-hjKI
• Ok, the first thing to do, is to add at the end of this address this little code: &fmt=18
• The new link will be like this: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=GBCfW9-hjKI&fmt=18
• Done? Well, now past it on your address bar’s browser and hit Refresh. The video should start playing, right? Put it on pause
• Good, at this point you need this little piece of code. Save this code in your Bookmarks, alternatively you can just copy it whenever you need it.
• Let’s say that you saved it as a bookmark
• Go back to the page where you pasted the modified YouTube link. Now, click on the bookmark containing the piece of code.
• On the right of the YouTube page, right under the code to use to embed the Youtube video, a new link will appear saying “Download as MP4 (right-click and select Save link as)”
• Right click on the link, save it as…
• Done, the video will start being downloaded in your computer.
• If you are bored by this procedure you can download this little script which will automate the procedure.
  

With this trick you will be able to download almost all YouTube videos ( You won’t be able to download all those videos which have not been encoded as MP4 format). The only raccomandation I feel to give you is that you need to be careful about what you download. As a matter of fact this trick is against YouTube policy since all videos detains copyrights. Teorically you should just download those videos you have copyright for.
