hello,
maybe it is your page file which is huge to say the least. Try to delete it or just give it a fixed size. To find it:

Control panel- system - advanced system settings
Now click on the advanced tab - under Performance click Settings - Advanced - Change...
Now manage the page file. In my pc I allocated the page file under another partition and i formatted it as Fat32. In fact, Fat32 is not compressed so it is supposed to be faster than a NTFS.

if you want to know what a page file is:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paging

Basically, if your RAM is totally used by your processes at this point Windows will start using the page file which is a kind of virtual memory. Of course if it is not compressed it will be faster because the system to use it wont have to de-compress it.

I am trying to resize the "C" Volume. I have 216 GB free space per properties on the C Drive. When I go to the "shrink the volume" this is what is showing up.
*Total size before shrink in MB = 294135
*Size of available shrink space = 76315
*Enter amount to shrink = (76315 is already put in)
* Total size after shrink in MB = 217820
(((If i change the amount I want to shrink to even 1 above the 73615 already put in to 73616....the Total size after shrink goes to "0")

Note below these figures states "Size of available shrink space can be restricted if snapshots or page files are enabled on the volume".

On the Vista Help "Shrink a Basic Volume" instructions it states ADDITIONAL CONSIDERATIONS....."When you shrink a partition, unmobable files (for example, the page file or the shadow copy storage area) are not automatically relocated and you can not decrease the allocated space beyond the point where the unmovable files are located. If you need to shrink the partition further, see move the page file to another disk, delete the stored shadow copies, shrink the volume, and then move the page file back to the disk.

I CAN NOT FIND ANY INFORMATION IN HELP THAT "EXPLAINS" HOW TO DO THAT.

My computer has a "C" partition with 217 GB free of 287GB, and a "D" recovery partition with 10.8 GB. I WANT TO CREATE A NEW PARTITION WITH 150 GB.

Can anyone help?

Thanks,
