Nowadays, surfing the Internet has become a children’s game thanks to a lot of browsers. The most famous ones are, without any doubt, Internet Explorer, Firefox and the new Google Chrome. But between the three of them, Chrome wins the racing for its speed. In fact, it is snappier and faster when you surf the web, and this means a lot. Chrome is the ideal companion of those guys who don’t want to wait too long before getting a web page. Every now and then, even I use Chrome when I want to visit a website “on-the-fly”. Anyway, everything is going to change. As a matter of fact, the Mozilla team is developing its next-gen Firefox, codename Minefild, which promises you to surf at speed-light!
The secret behind Minefield is its new JavaScript engine called TraceMonkey, a new version of the well known SpiderMonkey (actually in use in Firefox 3) which is amazing faster than the one used by Chrome and called V8. I know what you little impatient brats are thinking… Maybe you are thinking that you can’t wait to put your hands on this Minefield, right? OK, if you really can not wait, here is the link to download the alpha release of the next Firefox, codename Minefield. Mind you! This is an alpha release and it is far from being stable! You are forewarned! If you want to know more, click here.
