Installing service packs in Windows Vista is somewhat a funny task. As a matter of fact, it is very exciting to try new things out and see if the claimed improvements and enhancements really work out-of-the-box! Once you know where to get the SP packages you end up trying pre-beta and RTM (release to market) which, despite they are not the definitive service packs are able to give you some hints of the real, future, stable release. But what happen when the definitive service pack rolls out? You are compelled to install it, of course. Usually, after installing a new SP you will notice that a considerably portion of your hard disk has been irremediably taken by the installation itself. Well, this is not completely true. As a matter of fact, a lot of space is still occupied by those files belonging to the previous RTM or SP. All you need to do is some housekeeping! Continue reading »

Apparently Google has gone nuts. As a matter of fact, If anyone tries to do a search, Google returns with the following message, for each result “This Site May Harm Your Computer”. It is obvious that something is completely wrong and that this “weird” message is showing all over the world. If anyone can shed some light on this topic, step forward!
As you know, the Quick Launch bar has been removed in Windows 7. Without it, it s not possible to use the “Show Desktop” shortcut icon which, in just one click, minimized all the open windows to show you the desktop right away. If you miss such a feature you have to know that it has not really disappeared. As a matter of fact…it has been moved to a less obvious location! Continue reading »

With so many people using the same software as you do, it is only normal to wish to get something unique, able to stand out from the multitude. That’s why I spoke about a theme creator for Google Chrome, for example. If instead, you have Firefox, you can use a nice add-on which, in a couple of easy steps and without any technical background, lets you create a customized theme from scratch. Continue reading »

Working in a office is a hard task. No doubt. I know how hard having to do with papers and documents all day long is. That’s why regular employees need, every now and then, some kind of pastimes. What’s most relaxing than surfing the Web a little bit, right in front of your desk, and read some news or surf your favorite blog? Sadly your boss seems to think in an entirely different way. That’s why his black and ruthless heart advised him to set up a firewall to block the whole Internet from being surfed, to just allow you to send and receive e-mails. Let’s learn how we can surf the Internet just by using your e-mails… for your boss’ joy! Continue reading »
By default, the Quick Launch bar in Windows 7 has been disabled to make room to the new Superbar which allows you to directly add shortcuts of those applications you use mostly. Anyway, if you want to enable it beacuse you still feel something for the old Windows options, here is a nice and free trick that may come handy to you. Continue reading »
If you own Windows 7 you should know by now that the old, regular taskbar available in all Windows versions has been renamed and replaced by the Superbar. Like the old taskbar, its main task is to show you the icons of the most used programs and applications available in Windows 7 with the option to add (or delete) new icons. Anyway, by default, this Superbar just shows you the icons with no label. If you prefer to have icons and labels all together, here is a simple trick to apply. Continue reading »
Put in this way it doesn’t make a lot of sense, isn’t it? Anyway, that’s what it is. As a matter of fact, with the classic “noiseless” way which distinguishes the most important G in the world, Google has recently released just in the UK and in the USA so far, a smart service which lets people use their Gmail account offline.
