win7As you know, a couple of days ago I posted an article where I wrote the links to download the new Windows 7 beta and the procedure necessary in order to get a valid, legal key. If you remember well, at the end of that post I wrote that Microsoft made available “just” 2,5 million downloads. Upon reaching that limit, the servers would be closed. Well, believe it or not, Microsoft changed its mind and decided to stretch out this “experience” up  to January 24th. During this period  people around the world will be free to download Windows 7 beta as much as they like, without any boundary regardless the previous 2,5 million limit! This decision was taken after Microsoft got aware of its underestimation in the number of downloads which would hit its servers. Because of this, the Microsoft servers got some problem and a lot of people had issue or could not even download the new operating system. This, for the Microsoft team, led to a bad user experience, and from this  to the decision of postponing the last download-day the step was really short. Here is the statement of the Microsoft team at the official Microsoft blog:

“Due to an enormous surge in demand, the download experience was not ideal so we listened and took the necessary steps to ensure a good experience. We have clearly heard that many of you want to check out the Windows 7 Beta and, as a result, we have decided remove the initial 2.5 million limit on the public beta for the next two weeks (thru January 24th). During that time you will have access to the beta even if the download number exceeds the 2.5 million unit limit.”
