Palm has just announced and unveiled its new smartphone called Palm Pre. Now, this not-so-original smartphone is nothing new to tell you the truth, since we are quite accustomed to these kind of toys, isn’t it? But what makes it worth being described is its brand new operating system which marks a strong break with the past and the well-known PalmOS.

Palm Pre, differently from the other Palm phones sports a nice, brand new operating system called WebOS. This OS features  a web based application suite, support for touchscreen, background applications and a strong connection  with the Internet from which it depends to improve the user’s experience. Palm Pre features include:

  • Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g
  • GPS antenna.
  • Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR
  • 3.1-inch touch screen, 24-bit color 320×480 resolution HVGA.
  • Slide-out QWERTY keyboard.
  • Support for IM, SMS and MMS.
  • 3-megapixel camera.
  • 8GB of internal memory.
  • Accelerometer.
  • Proximity sensor which automatically turn off the keyboard and the screen whenever you put the phone up to your ear.
