Similar to what happened right after  the release of Windows Vista a few years ago, in a near future, people who will buy  a computer with Windows Vista pre-installed will have the opportunity to upgrade to Windows 7 for free. This upgrade program, called Windows 7 Technology Guarantee Program, has recently been published to Microsoft OEM partners for feedback under the temporary name of  Windows 7 Upgrade Program. It will become active on July 1, 2009. Continue reading »

Working with Vista and XP is an everyday routine for most people. That’s why you might want to apply  interesting enhancings which could improve your productivity and get rid of those long procedures which sometimes complicate you life while managing files and applications. Here is an interesting article which shows you some rather unknown shortcuts in Vista, here instead you can find interesting shell commands which let you gain access to folders and functions in Vista. I am pretty sure that you access Vista (and XP) utilities by browsing its menus. One of the best known menu is the right-click context menu which shows you a lot of information regarding files, folders and different applications. Wouldn’t you like to improve this simple menu by adding a lot, really a lot of interesting functions which could relieve you from your daily work? (just a little bit, I am not doing any miracle here). Continue reading »

circuitcityGosh! And now where do I go to get my daily dose of techno- gadgets? Ok, there is Best Buy and Radio Shack (which I personally don’t like that much), but there is nothing else left. No CumpUsa and no Dell Kiosks… OK, back on track. A few months ago I wrote about CircuitCity and the fact that it was going to close a lot of stores (as many as 150 according to The Wall Street Journal) to avoid bankruptcy. Well, after the unsuccessful attempt to sell the company by January 16th, CircuitCity filed for bankrupcy under chapter 11! This means that it  will be liquidated soon.  Around 30.000 employees will be without a job while some thousands of happy buyers will queue before each of the 567 CircuitCity stores in the USA ready to get their bargain. Are you happy or ready to move to the next job?

windows 7I still remember when around a year ago I posted a nice trick on how to use Windows Vista for free for 120 days and rearm and extend the grace period automatically. If you think well the time elapsed between these two operating systems is quite tight! We haven’t got accustomed to Windows Vista yet, that here Windows 7 comes! Anyway, for those of you guys who are trying Windows 7 right now, here is a nice trick to extend its grace period from 30 to 120 days (please, say how good I am  since I am dropping the first bomb of 2009!). Surfing a lot of websites in Firefox is a really wonderful experience, above all if you are using the  new Firefox 3.1 which is really fast. The down-side  is that, if you want to track back some site you previously surfed, you will have to use the history sidebar. Let’s seak frankly, this bar is not well-implemented and developed and, as a result, you  have to guess the name of the page/website you are looking for, among dozens of records. Let’s see how we can improve and change the history sidebar for better. Continue reading »
