While installing a new operating system it may happen that you mistype your name or surname as registered owner. This is quite annoying because usually, when you get aware of this, it’s too late cause you have already finished the installation procedure for good. At this point the only way to change or correct the name is to make a new clean installation. Useless to say, most people having this issue forget about it, since the procedure is quite long and boring. Here is a little hack to change the registered owner in all Windows editions when it looks like everything is lost.
- Click Start.
- Click Run.
- Type regedit.
- Locate the following key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ SOFTWARE\Microsoft\ Windows NT\ Current Version
- On the right pane double click on RegisteredOwner and change the name to whatever you like.
- Turn off and back on your computer for the changes to take effect.
