Every now and then, nobody knows why, the feature Folder Option available under the Tool menu in Windows Explorer simple disappears to not come back anymore. If you are one of those guys who can not live without such an option, here is a hack and a trick to get it back.
First method. The Hack
- Click Start.
- Click Run, type regedit and press OK.
- Navigate to this registry key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\ Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer.
- In the right pane locate the subkey NoFolderOptions.
- Right-click on it and delete it.
- Now locate the following registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\ Microsoft\Windows\ CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer.
- Proceed as described in the points 3 and 4.
- Restart your computer for the change to take effect.
Second method. The Trick
- Click Start.
- Click Run, type gpedit.msc and press OK.
- Go under Configuration – Administrative Templates – Windows Components – Windows Explorer.
- In the right pane,click Removes the Folder Options menu from the Tools Menu.
- Right-click on it and select Propierties.
- Set the option to Not Configured or Disabled.
