windows 7By default, Windows Explorer opens the Libraries folder in Windows 7. Jut in case you don’t know what  this new feature is, a Library is a folder especially made to host  files like for example  MP3, documents, videos etc. If you are of the old school and you don’t use such Libraries, and at the same time you want Windows Explorer to open other, more classic folders such as My Documents, Documents, Computer etc. here is a nice hack which will set Windows Explorer to open whatever folder you want.

  1. Click Start.
  2. Click All Programs.
  3. Click Accessories.
  4. Right-click Windows Explorer icon and select Propierties.
  5. Alternatively, click Start and in the Search box, type Windows Explorer and right-click on its icon and click Properties.
  6. Click the Shortcut tab (which should be already open) and in the target box, copy-and-paste one of the following codes:
  • To set Windows Explorer to open the Documents folder, use this code: %SystemRoot%\explorer.exe /n,::{450D8FBA-AD25-11D0-98A8-0800361B1103}
  • To set Windows Expolrer to open the Computer window, use this code: %SystemRoot%\explorer.exe /e,::{20D04FE0-3AEA-1069-A2D8-08002B30309D}
  • Click OK.

    Do you know a way to get this ‘Libraries’ thingy completely out the way? It’s part of M$ concept for Windows Explorer, though they seem to forget people may work in different ways and their chosen brainchild is hardly sufficient for everyone.
