I have to confess you that in my nice 4Gb SanDisk Micro USB Flash Drive I store practically everything. From the  Office 2007 package to MP3 files , from my latest pictures to my .doc and .pdf documents.  I dare not think what would happen if, for any reason, my USB dongle stopped working or deleted all of its files! That’s why a few weeks ago I started a paranoid quest  scouring the Internet in the vain attempt to find a freeware tool able to backup its content. Well, I am proud to tell you that I got what i was looking for.

USB Image Tool is a nice freeware utility whose aim is to  create images of your USB dongles and MP3 player (working as USB pendrives).  It most important features are:

  • Create and restore image of any USB drives.
  • Compress image format.
  • Display USB drive information.
  • Command line utility.

I’ve been having the same anxiety but haven’t devoted as much time in finding a solution for it. I have a 2 GB Lexar Lightning that’s getting on in years and would like to have a backup for it. This looks promising though so, thanks for the hard work :)

You are welcome Memo! If you have been with Web Talk for a while, you should know how “paranoid” (in a good sense of course) I am. I always backup everything, no matter if it has to do with my computer or with my private life. I am at peace, but I secretly get ready for war! :)
