How many times have you installed software and operating systems on your computer only to find out that they were not compatible with it? I think that this has happened to everyone at least once. If you are concerned about your computer hardware or your applications and want to find out if they are compatible with Microsoft products, here is a handy tool which is going to be quite useful to you.
Application Compatibility Toolkit (ACT) version 5.5 is a nice utility released by Microsoft whose task is to make you understand whether or not you system is compatible and ready “to host” Microsoft products. Reading from Microosft wepage: “The Microsoft Application Compatibility Toolkit (ACT) version 5.5 contains the necessary tools and documentation to evaluate and mitigate application compatibility issues before deploying Windows 7, Windows Vista®, a Windows Update, or a new version of Windows® Internet Explorer® in your environment.”
Among the other things, the Application Compatibility Toolkit (ACT) is able to:
- Verify and understand whether an application is compatible with a new version of Windows operating system, or a Windows Update , including determining the risk assessment.
- Test your web applications and web sites and find out their compatibility with Windows® Internet Explorer® Internet browser.
- determine if an application has got any issue with the User Account Control (UAC) feature.
If you want to know more or if you just want to download the tool, here is the link to the official Microsoft webpage.
