The Internet is full of freeware stuff. No doubt. In fact, you can download free e-books in PDF format without going to the book shop, for example. What you can not do instead is literally open such books and see if you like their content or not. As a matter of fact Google, which is an excellent tool to retrieve online documents, doesn’t provide the “View as HTML” function for all documents in its search results. Let’s see how you can search whatever document you want on the Internet and preview it without downloading.

DocJax is an interesting Web 2.0 Search Engine able to find free documents having the following extensions: PDF, DOC, XLS and PPT. Its most notable features are  a wonderful Preview link which is able to preview all the documents with the above-mentioned extensions and a Download link which, as you may guess, lets you download the file on the fly. Reading from the website: “DocJax is a search engine for documents, which allow you to search documents and e-book from everywhere, preview them and even download them for free.  You can find and download a tons of document and e-books but please respect the publisher and the author for their creations if their documents were copyrighted.”

If you want to know more or if you want to use the search engine, visit the official website.
