Sony is about to release a new  update for its PSP (PlayStation Portable) . The new Firmware 5.50 will bring a lot of new features for the users of  the game console but the most important one is, without any doubt, the new “information board” This new feature, already available with the latest firmware update on the PlayStation 3, will add on the upper right side of the screen a scrolling ticket containing the latest hot news and updates from the world of PlayStation. The news are downloaded and updated every time PSP catches an available Wi-fi signal.

Other features include:

  • You will be able to access to access sub-folders in your Memory Stick PRO Duo.
  • You will be able to search and read news about games  directly from the XMB. (This feature is already available in the PS3 with the recent 2.70 update).
  • In order to make your search safer, Sony has added a free trial of two Trend Micro services: MicroTrend Security (which prevents users from visiting harmful and malicious websites) and Trend Micro Kids’ Safety (which protects children from gain access to websites with inappropriate content).
