Internet is a great source of information and news of every kind. You can find a lot of articles as well as pictures.  But how to know if what you read and look at is original or fake?  As far as articles and news are concerned, it is sufficient to go to well-known websites such as Cnn.com or Fox.com to see if what you just read on that blog matches with what these important news networks are reporting. As far as pictures and images are concerned, well, the whole matter is far more trickier. In fact, unless you are a seasoned photographer, there is no way for you to know if a picture has been retouched and tampered using famous photo editors such as Photoshop. If you wish to know if a picture is original or not, here is an amazing, freeware software able to help you in a couple of steps. Continue reading »

After the release of so many Windows 7 beta leaked versions a lot of users, with the imminent release of Windows 7 RC (Release Candidate), may get some problem while trying to upgrade their Windows 7 beta or pre-beta versions to Windows 7 RC. As a matter of fact, a special built-in application has been skilfully placed by Microsoft inside the next Windows 7 RC which identifies and blocks  the upgrade of non-Vista Windows OS. That’s because Microsoft recommends users to install Windows 7 RC on computers with Windows Vista or just perform a clean installation to avoid issue and errors above all during the installation itself. If you want to bypass such a limitation, here is a simple hack to apply. Continue reading »

sitelinks

Has it ever happened to you to make a Google search and get, as first search result, a link with  two-column sitelinks? Sitelinks  “enable users to jump directly to important parts of a site, which is often useful for large, complex websites. Sitelinks have the additional advantage of giving users an overview of a website’s content by highlighting some of the popular parts of the site.” Such links are generated algorithmically on the expected benefit to users. Well, from now on a single row of links can  appear for results that didn’t show sitelinks before, even for results that aren’t in the first position. Up to 4 sitelinks can  be shown right above the URL of a website. This change will benefit both users and webmaster. As a matter of fact, now users will be able to jump to important part of a website containing important information. For webmaster this means that their website  will get more visibility as well as traffic. Anyway, if you are a webmaster and you don’t like the single row of links you can always block a page from appearing as a sitelink for 90 days through Webmaster Tools.

[Thanks Scott]

According to a Nintendo report, the big N managed to sell around 435,000 DSi during the first week in the  States! More amazing is the fact that last month “Nintendo systems accounted for 58.4 percent of the video game hardware sold in March (in the States), more than all other systems combined…” despite the fact that in the window Wii sales went down by 17%! If you want to know more, read this article.

vistaAs you know, every time you create a shortcut of any file in your computer, Windows Vista operating system will create along with the shortcut icon, a label named  like the original file plus the suffix   “Shortcut”. So for example, if you create the shortcut of a word file (.doc) named Test, Windows Vista will create a shortcut icon named Test – Shortcut. Useless to say,  if you use this option a lot and you don’t like the suffix “Shortcut” at all, every time a new shortcut is created you will have to modify it to remove the nagging word. Let’s learn how to remove this suffix thanks to a simple hack. Continue reading »
