Microsoft has recently released its new Malicious Software Removal Tool to help you spot malicious software in your computer. Microsoft advices to run this software regularly even on those machines which apparently seems to be fine. As a matter of fact, the latest threats don’t show any particular sign on the computer so, even if it behaves normally it could be infected.
Reading from the Microsoft webpage: “This tool checks your computer for infection by specific, prevalent malicious software (including Blaster, Sasser, and Mydoom) and helps to remove the infection if it is found. Microsoft will release an updated version of this tool on the second Tuesday of each month.” …” The Microsoft Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool checks Windows Vista, Windows XP, Windows 2000, and Windows Server 2003 computers for and helps remove infections by specific, prevalent malicious software—including Blaster, Sasser, and Mydoom. When the detection and removal process is complete, the tool displays a report describing the outcome, including which, if any, malicious software was detected and removed.”
