Google has recently rolled out an interesting feature available in Google Webmaster tool. This feature is called Site Performance and it is available on the left sidebar, under the Labs drop down menu. Site Performance checks your website (or your competitor’s website) and reports  you a complete set of information to help you determine if your site is fast or slow during the downloading and rendering process on any Internet browser, and what steps to take to make it faster.

Among its features we can find:

  • Performance Overview. It shows you a graph of your website speed and tells you clearly if it is fast or slow in comparison to other websites. (to make this comparison, Google utilizes data coming from users who have Google Toolbar and have enabled the PageRank feature)
  • Example pages.  It shows you the time that some of your website’s pages took to load in a browser (the average page load time).
  • Page Speed suggestion. It advises you where you website behaves “badly” in terms of performance and what you can do to improve it.
