migarte tool

I have already covered such a topic. You might want to read this article of mine where I talk about on how to migrate from Windows XP to Windows 7 or read this other article where I speak about your computer and if it is ready to upgrade to Windows 7. However, I have found an interesting, third-part utility which can help you to move all your files and other “belongings” from Windows XP to Windows 7, in the most painless way possible.

Windows 7 Basic Migration is a free tool which helps you migrate from Windows XP to Windows 7, during the upgrade process. This software will guide you through the re-installation of your software programs.  Its most important features are:

  • Easy to use application to assist you through the migration process.

  • Guides you for manually downloading and re-installing your favorite applications.
  • Complete scan to check for hard disk space as well as hardware and software compatibility.
  • Migrate your user and applications settings the new operating system..
  • Move your important data, including documents, images, video, emails and more..
  • Manually download and re-install applications from a customized web-page based on your existing installed programs.

Have you tried it? It only migrates files…

I used it, but had to get Zinstall XP7 in the end. It transferred all my programs and everything else too, really easy to use.

    Hope this helps.
