As you know, after a Windows operating system comes out, some of the old features available in the previous OS versions are not availbale in the new one anymore. In fact, in Windows 7, you will notice that the classic start menu is not available anymore. So let’s see how to make available certain features which, in Microsoft opinion, are not necessary, but for us have still got some value!
Classic Shell in a free tool which adds, as stated in the official website, “a collection of features that were available in older versions of Windows but not anymore. It brings back the classic start menu that Windows 7 doesn’t support, adds a toolbar for Windows Explorer in Vista and Windows 7 like the one in Windows XP and adds couple more smaller features.” Here is a list of its most important key features:
- It brings back the old, good, classic Start menu available in all versions of Windows from 95 to Vista. Such a features contain some very useful options which can help you in a lot of ways. Among the most important one, I would like to highlight: show Favorites, expand Control Panel, drag-and-drop to organize your applications and recently used documents.
- Classic plug-in for Windows Explorer. It adds some interesting features to Windows Explorer such as : Cut, Copy, Paste, Delete, Properties, Email.
- Replaces the copy UI in Vista and Windows 7 with the more user-friendly “classic” version similar to Windows XP.
- It customize the folder panel to look more like the one in Windows XP.
- Classic Toolbar in Windows Explorer.
- Add the famous up button in the title bar of Explorer.
- New Copy User Interface. A better, simpler user interface to handle conflicts generated from copying new files to a folder.
- Etc.
The list of improvements it add to your Windows 7 and Windows Vista is really impressive. So, if you want to know more or if you simply want to download the application, click here.
