windows 7Every time you install a new application on your computer, the pertinent icon and its folder (sometimes) are placed in the Start Menu of your Windows 7 operating system. This  lets you open the application from such a menu and have an alphabetically ordered list of the software installed on your computer, too. The annoying thing about this is that a special feature, which is turned on by default, highlights newly installed programs. Let’s see how to turn off and disable such a feature an prevent the operating system from highlight all the new programs you install on your machine!

  1. Click Start.
  2. Right-click any empty space on the menu and click Properties.
  3. From the Taskbar and Start Menu Properties window, click the Start Menu tab.
  4. Click the Customize… button.
  5. Scroll the menu down and locate Highlight newly installed programs. Untick its square button.
  6. Click OK to confirm your action.
  7. Done!
