Let’s see together how you can improve and extend the battery life of your laptop by tweaking certain Windows 7 options and troubleshooting any issue related to the computer.

  1. Click Start.
  2. Click Control Panel.
  3. Click System and Security.
  4. Click Improve Power Usage. This will open a new window which is nothing else than a troubleshooter. Now click the Next button located on the bottom-right side.
  5. Now the system will scan your power options, also troubleshooting them. If any issue is found the system will fix it automatically showing you a complete report on what was wrong and how it was fixed.

    Ok, got the System and Security. I found the option to Improve Power Usage under Troubleshoot computer problems.

    I only have System (and not System and Security) in Control Panel. I am using Windows 7 Professional 32-bit. What edition / version of Windows 7 has that?
