windows 7If you have a lot of software, tools, applications and utilities on your computer, I am pretty sure that your computer desktop will be pretty cluttered and messed with tons and tons of icons. Sometimes, such a big quantity of icons might even be quite embarrassing and in some case it might even “distract” you from what you are doing. This small trick will let you hide your desktop iconsin Windows 7 in a couple of clicks.

  1. Right-click any empty space on your computer desktop.
  2. Click View from the menu ( it should be the first item).
  3. Untick Show Desktop Icons.
  4. Done! Enjoy your new clean desktop!

    I’ve used Fences for over a year now, on Vista, Win 7 32 bit, and now Win 7 64 bit on an i7-930. Double clicking on a blank spot will hide all icons, but you can specify by icon if you don’t want that icon hidden. Another double click and they all return. Lost the icons once on the 32 bit machine (they were still there. Un/reinstall of Fences brought everything back.Has been stable on the 64 bit machine.
