chrome hardware acceleratorOn Google Chrome 8 you can turn on and enable (as well as disable, of course) the new, fast GPU hardware acceleration which offers you a better performance when it comes to playing online games (just think of those wonderful online multiplayer games) or online streaming videos and movies. Let me tell you upfront the this feature is still in a experimental mode, so it might undergo crashes and issues. Besides, Internet Explorer 9 has already its GPU engine, so  it was only a natural steps for Google to implement the hardware accelerator on its browser!  GPU engine will let user experience 3D graphics in the browser and other multimedia content which require special piece of software to use your computer power.

Facebook cartoon tagsOne of the most frequent questions about Facebook is how to create and make cartoon and avatar tags to identify your friends. As we all know one of the most used features on Facebook is tagging which lets you “tag”, spot your friends on pictures, photos, videos, notes etc. This is especially useful in those cases where a person want to clearly identify somebody during a conversation, while showing a photo, for example. During the years such a feature has evolved a lot,  how stated on this Facebook blog post about tagging. However, as always in these cases, users tend to “abuse” the tagging option in new, different, annoying ways! I am talking about the cartoon tagging. There are a lot of Facebook groups against cartoons tags just to make you understand how this new trend is really bothering a lot of Facebook users sometimes with unexpected results! That said if you still want to turn your Facebook friends to cartoons and avatar, I have what you are looking for: a small list of websites where you can download funny pictures to use on your Facebook profile! Chrome Web AppsThe procedure to install and uninstall (or remove)  Google Chrome Web Apps is quite easy. However, some users may not be aware of the steps involved to achieve this result. However, before talking about it, I would like to take a step back and talk about the the Chrome Web Store. It was launched on December 7, 2010 as stated on the official Chrome blog, and lets  users download, buy and install free, useful apps for their Google Chrome. The store also contains Chrome themes and extensions. Now the difference between extensions and web apps is that the first ones add extra-features to the Google browser, while the second group is composed by  nothing else than shortcuts to popular and highly used web pages and/or games. Most of the time such Web Apps do not install anything on your machine apart from a small file as explained on this Google Chrome Store webpage. A couple of months ago I spoke about how to uninstall Google Chrome extensions from your computer (and even how to delete Chrome itself!), now I am going to show how to permanently delete the new Web Apps which, as I told you before, are different from Extensions. Gmail error 500

While trying to access your Gmail account, the system might return you  the following error message: “GMAIL temporary error (500) – We’re sorry, but your Gmail account is temporarily unavailable. We apologize for the inconvenience and suggest trying again in a few minutes. If the issue persists, please visit the Gmail Help Center. Try Again Sign Out.”  Despite such error seems to be triggered by a large  quantity of different issues, it looks like only a few of them can be solved by the user himself. Other issues have to do with the Internet connection or with Google itself which has got some problem on its Gmail servers (and as a consequence Gmail won’t load!). Other errors are more easy to solve such as: error 007 (your Firewall is preventing Gmail from receiving/sending emails), error 008 (the attachment you are trying to send is bigger than 20 MB) or 502 (Gmail itself is unavailable for unknown reasons). Let’s see how to solve the dreaded Gmail error 500! Continue reading »

facebook tabsIf you wish to customize and enhance your Facebook profile you should take into consideration to add or create Facebook Tabs on your social, public profile. Such tabs add extra functionalities to your Facebook profile by adding interesting information and media tools such as your photos, addresses, links, videos, games,  and a lot of stuff like that! This will let you have a special, unique profile which will stand out of the other plain, default Facebook profiles you can see everywhere! It is also a nice choice in case you hate both the old and new Facebook layout and wish to add a personal touch (like for example inserting special, custom Facebook fonts and symbols!). However, this guide will go a little further. In fact it will also show you how to make custom and add tabs by changing the tab’s name thanks to a small, free application. Continue reading »
