setup Personal folder outlookWhen you open Microsoft Outlook 2007 0r 2010, the first thing  you will see is the Inbox folder. You are not allowed to open any personal folder at startup nor any other folder, by default. Even when you first setup Outlook on your Windows 7 or Vista you are not given any choice on what folder you prefer to see when you run the software. This is the default behaviour based on the fact that majority of users wish to check their new emails right away. Remove Windows Optimal SolutionThis quick tutorial will show you how to uninstall and remove the fake Windows Optimal Solution tool from your Windows 7, Windows Vista and XP. The application tries to simulate legitimates Windows all-in-one optimization utilities such as TuneUp Utilities, for example. Differently from other well-known fake antivirus I have written about in my previous posts, Windows Optimal Solution masks itself as a Windows utility rather than an antivirus. However, the result is as dangerous and harmful as other fake software since its goal is to steal your money. Nothing more, nothing less. As soon as you install it, the program will automatically perform a fake scan of your system. Of course, the result will be that your computer is not well-optimized and, in order to fix this situation, you will need to buy the full version of Windows Optimal Solution. No need to tell you that the full version doesn’t provide any protection nor does it optimizes your computer. Do not forget that the whole goal here is to trick and convince you into thinking that your computer is not OK and that you need to spend money (by using your credit card) to buy a piece of software. Everything has been packed and wrapped up to make you think that you really need Windows Optimal Solution. Even the UI (User Interface) of the software is very reassuring as it shows the well-known Microsoft Windows logo and all the eye-candy buttons you are accustomed to see in a “regular” and working application. In the meantime, the “scareware” modified your Internet Explorer browser so that every time you perform a search you will be redirected to a page where you will be able buy the software. Let’s see how to get rid and remove this pestware from your PC! Continue reading »

remove antivira avIn this guide I will show you how to delete and remove the fake Antivira AV antivirus from your computer. Antivira AV belongs to the same “family” of Antivirus.NET. Basically, it is a  a “fresh” (see Yahoo Answers)  fake antivirus which once installed on your Windows 7, Vista or Windows XP operating system will try to trick you into thinking that your computer is infected by viruses and spyware. Of course, it is not true! Its only goal is to convince you to buy the full Antivira AV version with your credit card. To convince you that your computer is infected  a lot of windows will pop-up on your screen after a full, fake automatic scan. Some window will contain the following warning: “Security Warning! Application cannot be executed. The file AV.exe is infected. Do you want to activate your antivirus software now?” Your Internet browser will also be hacked and will redirect all your searches to webpages where you will see alarming messages and links to other webpages where you will be able to buy the full software. It has to be said that such full version is not better than the “demo” one as it is an useless antivirus which provides no protection to your computer and your private data. On the contrary, it contains spywares which spy your Internet behaviour and steal your most important files and infos. At the time writing no “ad-hoc” Antivira removal tool exist, so the only way to get rid of it is to manually remove it.

firefox do not trackFirefox 4 promises to keep our privacy secure thanks to interesting privacy features. In this guide I will show you how to enable and  turn on the “Do Not Track” option which doesn’t let third party tracking cookies spy you while you visit websites and blogs. But  what are tracking cookies (some of them are also known as Super Cookies) and what is the Do Not Track feature?  Every time you surf a website you will be shown certain ads depending on your tastes and on what you visited before reaching that particular website or webpage. In fact, without knowing your browser downloaded special files called cookies which literally spy and track your Internet habits in order to serve you better targeted ads. Firefox 4 wants to limit this or I ‘d better say it wants you decide if being tracked or not thanks to the Do not Track feature which lets you opt-out of OBA (online behavioral advertising). As stated on the official Mozilla Firefox blog: “When this option is selected, a header will be sent signaling to websites that you wish to opt-out of online behavioral tracking.  You will not notice any difference in your browsing experience until sites and advertisers start responding to the header”. Let’s see how to enable it. Continue reading »
