If you have Windows 7, then you should be familiar with its Homegroup feature. Homegroup lets you share your files, music, videos, pictures, etc. within your home network and Windows 7 PCs. It also lets you share the same printer across different computers scattered in different rooms. If, for any reason, you wish to remove your own computer from a Homegroup, I have got the right guide for you. Let’s see how to leave a Homegroup in a few steps!
- Click the Start orb.
- Click Control Panel.
- Click Network and Internet – Homegroup.
- Click Leave the Homegroup.
- A small dialog box will pop-up on the screen. Just confirm that you want to abandon the Homegroup and click Finish.
If the above procedure doesn’t work, for you, try this other step-by-step guide.
- Click the Start orb.
- Click Control Panel.
- Click Network and Internet – Network and Sharing Center.
- Now, click your own Home Network icon and select Public or Work Network.
- Once you are done, go to the Windows Explorer folder and go to: C:\Windows/ ServiceProfiles/LocalService/AppData/ Roaming/ PeerNetworking
- If you can not see the Appdata folder it means that it is hidden by default. To be able to see it, from the Windows Explorer folder, click Organize – Folder Options – View and tick the Show Hidden files and folders.
- Under the PeerNetworking folder (point 5) delete all the Peer networking files.
- Restart your computer for the changes to take effects.
- Done!
