Last year I wrote a post about a rumor saying Compusa going out of business. It turned out that it was true indeed. What I am about to write here is not a rumor at all. In fact Compusa is going to re-open 15 stores plus a new one in Florida! Here is the news taken directly from Compusa website: “CompUSA.com is proud to announce the Grand Re-Opening of 15 US stores and the Grand Opening of our new Palm Beach Gardens Store. We’ve got lower prices… New wider selection… And amazing new deals. Come check out the all new CompUSA near you.”
So this is the funniest news I have ever reported. You have to know that everytime a person buys a laptop from Sony, the company itself has the wonderful idea to stuff the nice brand new machine with a lot of crapware. I had this bad experience last year when I decided to buy a Sony Vaio at BestBuy (it was not for me, but for a relative of mine). When I got it ,well, it was so full of bloatware namely shareware software, free software I didn’t care about, software inviting you to buy other software etc that to just turn it on, it took me some minutes. I had to spend a good hour to uninstall all that stuff, just to find out that Windows Vista was so compromised because of that software I removed, that in the end I had to make a fresh install. Of course what I went through was also true for all those people buying a new laptop from Sony as well, and I bet the company received many complaints. Now the company, which is not deaf to people’s complaints, but at the same time thinks users are like cows to milk, has got the nice idea to deliver you a free-crapware laptop just if you pay 50 bucks!!! This nasty thing is called “Fresh Start” and it is available as an option for TZ2000. Of course it will be extended to all its laptops as well. Is Sony going nuts or are they just thinking we are stupid? I don’t really know. The only thing I know is that Sony is full of…crapware!
Yes, yes, yes and…yes! This is really a good news for people like me, who are looking forward to buying one of the gorgeous Nokia N810. In fact, the guys at Nokia have decided to make the first price cut of 90 dollars! Now the N810 costs “just” $389.99. Well, I know, it is not that cheap yet, but if you were looking for an incentive to buy one of it, you have got one right now! If you want to know more about the N810 click here. If you live in Europe (but soon in the States too) you are going to enjoy the old, good Commodore 64 games that made you so happy when you were 15 years old, on your Wii virtual console. The guys at Nintendo will start with the classic game International Karate that will costs around 500 Wii point, and will continue with other arcades in the near future. Personally speaking I love Commodore 64 games, but spending some bucks on something you can find on the Internet for free, seems a little too exaggerated!
If this rumor is confirmed, it will mean that hundreds of employees will be without a job in a shot time ( I hope not!). As a matter of fact it looks like Dell is about to close its kiosks all over the States. It makes sense to me since the competition is becoming really tough. With Wall-Mart, Best Buy and Radio Shack looking at big profits and eating other companies alive, well, I think the guys at Dell are right to use their axe on some company extensions. They can not afford to become sombody else launch!
