As you know I am always looking for new devices that can integrate as much technology as possible. I hate having different devices doing differently things. A phone to call, a camera to take shots, a Mp3 reader to listen to my music. Why can not I have a single device doing all this? Luckily for me (and for you guys) big companies are becoming more and more aware about this and try to create new devices having many services and functions. One of this company called iRiver has recently made public its new tool called UNIT 2 which integrate many applications namely: CD/DVD player, FM tuner, TV tuner, VoIP phone, VoIP Video Phone, WiFi support and a fast browser to surf the web! Its specs are: base Unit and portable Unit, 2GB NAND Flash and 30GB hard drive, with SD memory card slot, 7-inch (800×480 pixels) 16:9 screen. No word about its price or release date. Watch the video to know how it works!
If you managed somehow and somewhere to download all the Windows Vista files (install.wim, boot.wim and a .EXE file), at this point you may be at loss how to make a bootable dvd in order to install Vista on your computer. Here is the step-by-step procedure:
- Put the three file in the same folder or directory. Let’s make the example that the three files all in the C:\ root.
- Run the .EXE file. A new folder named Vista will be created and it will contain a lot of files. These are the setup files.
- Exit from the install Windows screen.
- Download CDimage and install it.
- Click start on your desktop, open Run and type “cmd”. A command prompt shell will appear.
- Type: cdimage.exe -lVISTA_EN_DVD -m -u2 -bC:\Vista\boot\etfsboot.com C:\Vista\ C:\Vistax86.iso.
- A bootable Windows Vista x86 DVD ISO image will be created as vistax86.iso in C:\.
- Burn the ISO image by using a burning software such as Nero. To avoid any error make sure to burn at a 2X or 4X speed.
These three files you see below, hosted on msft-dnl.digitalrivercontent.net owned by Digital River (which is a Microsoft Delivery Partner so No, they don’t contain any virus, spyware or other malware), are the files contained in a Windows Vista DVD if you get it from a retail store (for free). They contain all the different 32-bit Vista editions namely: Starter, Home Basic, Home Premium, Business and Ultimate, and let you also upgrade from any of these versions into another one. Of course to make Vista work you need to buy the license key directly from Windows Marketplace. Anyway if you are lazy and you don’t feel like getting out of your house, take the metro, a couple of buses and a 20 minute walk, this is the right solution!
Download them now!
After you have finished downloading, make sure to put them in the same folder or directory. After that the only thing you have to do, is to make a bootable DVD and you are done!
Update: if you wish to get the X64 Windows Vista version, don’t run to the store round the corner, download it here:
Ps: if you already have a license key but you wonder how to save it, read this article.
