After some period of quietness, it looks like the micro-pc world has started giving out some interesting news again. In fact, the computer company Shuttle has just unveiled its new tiny desktop called SN78SH7 (couldn’t they find a name easier to remember? I wonder!). The micro pc supports AMD AM2+ processors and is based on NVIDIA GeForce 8200 chip set. It is provided also with high quality 8-channel sound chip with DTS Connect and Dolby Digital Live! certification. Other features include:
- Shuttle I.C.E. (Integrated Cooling Engine) with advanced heat pipe technology.
- 4GB DDR2 RAM.
- Supports Blu-ray and HD-DVD movies.
- 7.1 channel High Definition Audio.
- 2x Serial-ATA II supporting various RAID configurations.
The Shuttle XPC SN78SH7 should cost around $450 and it is already available in shops. If you want to know mnore, visit the official website.
As I have told you a lot of times, after the cheap ultraportable tendency, now it’s the turn of the cheap micro-pc trend to take over the market. And in fact another micro pc has been released in the wild. This time is the turn of MSI to unveil its brand new Titan 700 which, apart from being very cheap ($458), promises you to entertain with the following features:
- VIA CN700 processor at 2.0GHz.
- 1GB of RAM.
- Dual-layer burner.
- 120GB 2.5-inch drive.
- 4 USB ports.
- Dimensions are 24cm x 18.5cm x 7cm (DxWxH).
Surely you are asking yourself if there are any downsides, since this tiny PC looks like heaven to you. Well, to tell you the truth there is something which turned me off… Do you want to know what is it? Ok… the price doesn’t include any operating system…Dho! A really “trivial” issue if you want your computer to run! If instead you are looking for a case to put your hamburger and coke in, that’s the right thing to get. A new micro PC gets official! If you have been reading Web Talk for a while you know what I think about micro PC. I think they will soon become the next standard as far as personal computers are concerned. In a world where everything is shrinking more and more, the next thing to become small-sized will be desktop computers, of course. That said Asus has made public its CS5110. This micro PC, which vaguely reminds me of Playstation 3 has got an Intel processor, up to 4GB of DDR2 RAM, blue-ray (optional), 256MB GeForce 8600M, 802.11b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth 2.0+EDR. It just weights around 3.4-kilogram (7.5-pound). No word about its price or release date yet. If you want to know more click here.
As you all know, Asus is the company which invented the nice, sexy and cheap Asus Eee. Today Asus wants to amaze us with another piece of hardware which, I am pretty sure, is going to be a hit in the market soon. Its name is NOVA LITE Mini 2L and it is a micro Pc. Do you remember what I said to you last year? No? Ok, I am going to say it again. Soon the new trend, after cheap ultraportables, will be micro Pc. Now, I don’t have any Nostradamus capabilities here, but keep in mind what I just said to you. This new little computer measures just 9.09- x 7.24- x 2.00-inches and weight just 3.3 pounds. The micro Pc sports up to 2GB of DDR2 RAM, 80GB / 160GB hard disk, DVD burner, Wifi and USB 2.0 ports. No word about its price or release date. By the way, what does it remind you? If you ask me I would say that it looks like the Wii, isn’t it? I woudn’t be surprised if the guys at Asus did that on purpose. How many iPhone-like have we seen around so far?
This time it is the turn of the mini-pcs. A couple of months ago I spoke about one of the first (if not the only one) mini-pc available on the market and whose name was Artigo. Since the latest trend is to copy from each other, now even Everex, which is famous for its Cloudbook has created a mini-pc whose name is gPC mini desktop. Nothing new or extraordinary to tell you the truth, but it is worth being reviewed since it is the second machine of this new generation (of course I expect to see more of them in the wild, since I am pretty sure building nano-pc will soon become the new trend after ultraportable). So, this little baby sports a 1.83GHz T2130 processor, 120GB hard drive, 512MB DDR2 RAM,a DVD writer, a Intel’s GMA950 graphic media accelerator, gigabit Ethernet, DVI / S-Video outs, FireWire, four USB 2.0 ports, a 4-in-1 multicard reader. The release date is set by the 1st of March but no word about its price yet (let’s hope that it will be as small as its size at least!)
Via has recently brought into the market a mini-Pc called Artigo. The news is that you have to build it yourself. Of course you don’t have to be an engineer because the only thing you have to do is to screw a couple of screws. That’s it. The result is quite interesting as much as the dimension of this micro Pc. As a matter of fact Via declares that its new born is “The world’s smallest full-featured x86 mainboard at just 3.9″ x 2.8″ (10cm x 7.2cm) for ultra compact embedded PCs, systems and appliances.” Continue reading »
