16tb.jpgWell, step-by-step we are getting closer and closer to the day where our beloved old hard disks will be completely useless, slow and thick in comparison to the new SSD ones. A few days ago BiTMICRO, which already surprised us some time ago, unveiled its brand new 1.6TB Ultra320 SCSI SSD that promises to give us all something so thin and so fast that we could barely see it! The new SSD hard disk is just 3.5-inch and it is said to transfer data as fast as 230MB/sec! No word on the release date or its price.

This technology is bound to substitute the soon-obsolete hard drive in your Pc or laptop, but when will it happen? According to Toshiba soon , very soon since by May 2008 it will start selling SSD in different flavours namely 1,8″ e 2,5″ with 32, 64 and 128 GB. The price is not available yet, but we should expect to be high for some time till it will drop dramatically down as this technology becomes more used.
